Morningwood Farm’s Wakey Wakey World-Conquering Chili

Morningwood Farm’s Wakey Wakey World-Conquering Chili

Once upon a time, in the spicy fields of Morningwood Farm, Savage Brody dared to dream. “What if,” he pondered, “we could create a chili so bold, so delicious, that it would not only wake the dead but also make them ask for seconds?” And so, armed with a cauldron (which, for you peasants, is just a large pot) and the farm's infamous Wakey Wakey hot sauce, he concocted a chili that's as legendary as the farm’s name suggests. This isn’t just any chili; it’s a chili that packs a punch, tickles your ribs, and maybe even touches you in places that will make your tingle. Cook it up for friends who love a good laugh and a great meal—they’ll never forget the night they experienced the magic of Morningwood!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef or turkey (for the less audacious)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 bell peppers (one red, one green), diced
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Wakey Wakey hot sauce (or more, for the brave)
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions

Recipe:

  1. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large pot, cook the onion and garlic over medium heat until they’re soft and golden. Toss in the diced bell peppers and stir until they’re just tender.
  2. Brown the Meat: Crank up the heat to medium-high and add the ground meat to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until it’s nicely browned and fully cooked.
  3. Unleash the Flavor: Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, black beans, and broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Spice it Up: Add cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, and a good swirl of Wakey Wakey hot sauce. Give it all a good stir to combine the flavors. Let the chili simmer gently for at least an hour, stirring occasionally. The longer it cooks, the better it gets!
  5. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, topped with your choice of garnishes. This chili is a hug in a bowl with a cheeky slap on the back.

Alcohol Pairing: To complement the fiery kick of Wakey Wakey sauce, opt for a robust, malty beer like a stout or porter. The creamy richness of these beers will soothe the chili’s spice while enhancing its depth. If you prefer wine, a bold Zinfandel with its fruity vigor stands up well to the chili's robust flavors.

Cook up this chili when you need a dish as bold and memorable as Morningwood’s reputation. It's perfect for game nights, chilly evenings, and any occasion that calls for a dish with a little sass and a lot of flavor. Enjoy the rib-tickling heat and heartwarming laughs that only Morningwood Farm can deliver!
